Try your hand in germinating different varieties, may be a unique species, to help mankind fight serious threats of Global Warming, Less Rainfall & Disturbed Ecological System.
       
Bhopal is situated in almost central part of Madhya Pradesh. The city is rich in natural recourses like greenery, water sources and the density of forest is also thick as compared with other districts of Madhya Pradesh. Topography of Bhopal gives us a look of a hill station (Idgah Hills, Shamla Hills & Arera Hills) with Lakes (Upper Lake, Lower Lake, Shahpura Lake) and small Dams (Kolar Dam, Kerwa Dam, Bhadbhada Dam). Soil Type :
Bhopal and surroundings is having mainly DEEP BLACK COTTON SOIL and Loam soil. The Soil pH varies from 6.5 to 7 pH, which is basically neutral soil suitable for all kind of crops.

Climate :
The Rainy season starts as per monsoon beginning in third week of June followed by good rains in July to mid of September. Winter rains occurs in mid of November to mid of December. Average rainfall of Bhopal is around 1200mm. Winter season starts from November itself and continues upto last week of February. Sometimes frost can attack the Gram crop in third weak of January, mostly 15th to 26th of January, when temperature can drop to 8 to 5 deg C. Temperature starts rising usually after last weak of February to mid June, and peak summer is in May when temperature touches 45 deg C.

Favourables :
Cerials: Soyabean, Wheat, Paddy, Gram, Tuar, Maize, Sorghum, Bajra, Sugercane.

Vegetables
: Tomato, Chilli, Brinjal, Capsicum, Cucurbits, Okra, Cabbage, Cauliflower, CowPea, SweetPea and other leafy vegetables.

Flowers: Rose, Jasmine, Aster, Marry Gold, Tuberose, Gladilous.

Fruits: Mango, Guvava, Custard Apple, Ber, Jamun, Chikku, Banana, Jackfruit, Mulberry, Papaya, Orange, Lime, Kinno, Mandarin, Grapes. Coconut and Cashew.

Optimistic Initiatives :
Due to rich in vegetation & forest cover, Bhopal is suitable for all types of crops. At present, Hi-tech floriculture has also started, where cultivation of cut-flowers like Gerbera, Carnation, Dutch Roses, Lilyum are growing under the Poly houses. Farmers of Bhopal have also shown interest in Medicinal Crops like Chlorophytum borivillianum (Safed Misshli), Stevia (Herbal Sugar), and Vanilla (natural essence; second costliest crop on this earth after saffron).
